M.I.A.

Early this week, British singer/rapper M.I.A., best known for her single "Paper Planes", had her latest video pulled from YouTube due to graphic violence and images of several redheads being executed. The violent video sent YouTube users into a frenzy, which ended with the video being flagged as inappropriate by the online video community. In some instances, the video just has an "18 years and over" rating, where users are asked to verify their age.
I think that the video is just a way of M.I.A. expressing herself. I think that it is art and even though it's very violent, it shouldn't be completely pulled from YouTube. I believe every celebrity deserves their own publicity. However, I don't think that little kids should be watching videos like these, because in the past they have proved to inspire kids to create their own violence. I think the video should just keep the 18 and older rating so that M.I.A. can be an artist and express herself and kids cannot see what they shouldnt be seeing.

The End of the World

With all of the massive earthquakes going on recently, one can only wonder, is it the end of the world as we know it? There have been four major earthquakes above 5.0 on the Rhichter Scale in four major countries. So this poses the question: are these catastrophic events leading up to the end of the world? Scientists say that the recent shifting of earth's plates is completely normal and that we shouldn't worry about, yet some people are still convinced that 2012 will be our absolute demise.
I think that the world will not end in 2012. I also think that it is just a myth. I wish people would stop talking about it because no one knows for sure; we can't just say so because of some stupid Mayan calendar. I wish people would realize that we can't believe everything we read and hear. Sometimes things are just stories to get people going. The world won't end in 2012, and we are going to be okay.

Croatia

Recently, a 13-year-old Croatian girl woke up from a coma speaking fluent German. The girl had been in a beginner's German class and was basically incapable of speaking the language. She can no longer communicate with her family, which has left them baffled and emotional.
What can be done about this poor girl? Will she have to relearn her language? I think it's horrible that she can't even talk to her family. The fact that she can speak fluent German is amazing, but the fact that her family can't even talk to her is horrible. I think doctors should be taken in to investigate, but they should not make the family pay for it.

Corey Haim

Recently, 80's teen actor Corey Haim passed away due to a drug overdose. America was saddened by the loss of one of its most beloved child actors. Updated news stories have been released, stating that Haim received over 500 prescription medications in the two months prior to his death with the use of an alias.
Haim's passing has caused a lot pf people to wonder, why do doctors keep on giving out prescription medications when they know that people have problems with addiction? It isn't fair. Many of our favorite celebrities have become addicted to unnatural pills and passed unexpectedly. I think that laws should be updated and passed to help limit the prescribing of certain drugs. These laws could prevent millions of deaths each year and make the world a safer place.

Tasing

On March 31, two police officers from Martinsville, Indiana, were suspended with pay for smacking a 10-year-old boy at a daycare and then tasing him. According to the officers, the boy was out of control, and was tased and slapped in order to stop him from hurting the other children. When the police arrived, the boy was kicking, hitting, cussing, and refusing to listen to the two men. Police chief Jon Davis is in shock that a stun gun was used on the 94-pound child.
I think that using a taser on a child that small is very dangerous. Something needs to be done to punish these officers. Just because a child is out of control does not mean that he needs to be tased. I believe that the two officers should lose their jobs.
